When I was in Sophia University in Tokyo, I met a music professor from Loyola University in New Orleans. I took some of his classes. He came to Kyushu and Yamaguchi, my hometown prefecture, so I showed him around. Later before he left Japan, he help me earn scholarship from Loyola. That is how I came to US. He taught at Loyola and then he went to Paraguay. When I traveled in South America in 1980, I visited him in Asuncion. After his mission there he came back to US. He was not doing well. In December, 1994, he was in a Jesuit hospital in New Orleans. I visited him with Joyce and Emily. Emily was small, but she remembers him. I am happy she does. On February 3rd, 1995, Fr. McNaspy passed away. He was 79 years old.
When I was cleaning my office home, I found copies of his obituary. I had never realized this before. But my brother died on February 3rd, too. He passed away in 2002.

Fr. C.J. McNaspy is the gentleman on the left with a pipe. He was truly a great scholar. He chose me to bring back to US. I hope he is thinking he made a right decision. And he is happy with what I have been doing with young people.

I took this photo in Asuncion, Paraguay in 1980.
